Fish Farming Plant

Tilapia Fish Farming Plant

Another plant, Konya Seker carries out production by making use of heat of the water instead of spending energy to cool condensed water in cooling towers, is the Fish Farming Plant.

Konya Seker began tilapia fish farming, which one of the species, whose farming is carried out the most in the world, because it aims to offer healthy, natural and innovative products to meet the food requirements of the increasing population.

Tilapia fish breeding project is based on zero waste perspective and integrated production model. Condensed water, which comes out from the production process at Cumra Seker Integrated Facilities and for which energy is spent to cool, is used to breed tilapia fish. Thus, intense fish farming is carried out throughout 12 months by supplying the optimum conditions for tilapia fish, which lives in warm water.

Waste water, which comes out of the fish, is cleaned with biological filters and its continuous use is ensured and water waste is prevented in this investment, which is a first in Turkey. Fish stools, which come out of the filter, are utilized as natural fertilizer.

Tilapia, known as a tropical and subtropical climate fish, lives in waters, whose temperature is between 25-28 °C. This type, whose meat yield and quality are high, is appealing because its meat is pink-red in color. This facility, established to breed tilapia fish, which turns approximately 2/3 of the feed it eats into meat, aims to achieve 200 tons of production with its existing capacity.

Tilapia, which is a freshwater culture fish, is consumed in quite high amounts in Equator countries, America, Canada and Europe. Europe imports this fish from primarily China, and Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
