Seed Production

Konya Şeker's activities related to seed are carried by Beta Ziraat A.Ş. (Beta Agriculture Inc.). Aiming to produce qualified seeds suitable for region and region’s climate, increase productivity in agricultural production, raise welfare level of farmers, the plant aims to reduce Turkey’s foreign dependency about seed and increase farmers’ income by enabling farmers to make seed production as alternation product when they don’t plant beet.

Potato invitro and mini potato tuber were started to be produced in the plant which produces sugar beet, hybrid and standard vegetable, forage plants, wheat and cereal seeds in production plants established in Altınekin. Konya Şeker which started domestic corn seed improvement project in cooperation with TÜBİTAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) in order to change Turkey's foreign dependency in corn seed, has also reached final stage in production of domestic corn seeds.

Besides this, it started Sunflower Improvement with 1501 TÜBİTAK project titled “Development of Hybrid and Parental Halfway Sunflower Improvement Materials containing High-Medium Oleic/High Linoleic Acid resistant to mildew and herbicides in IMI group”. Beta Ziraat which is one of the biggest seed companies in Turkey, is also one of the companies with strongest export portfolio in the country.
