Tilapia Breeding

One of the important works which has been done in Çumra Campus, is Tilapia breeding which is the first in our country.

Understanding of zero waste and integrated production model are at the heart of Tilapia breeding project performed in the aquaponic environment. It is utilized in greenhouses established in the plant to use condensed water for which energy is spent for cooling, for the purpose of heating and in this way, 12 months of intense fish breeding is performed by providing optimum conditions for Tilapia in greenhouses.

In a plant with 200 tons of capacity, Tilapia breeding which has the highest value in Europe is carried out in a controlled environment. With this investment which is the first in Turkey, waste water from fish is cleaned with biological filters to provide continuous use, water waste is prevented and fish feces that are filtered are utilized as natural fertilizer.
