Feed Factory

In the plant established in 2009 in order to support animal husbandry which is one of the sub-sectors supported by sugar sector most, feed varieties increasing yield in meat-milk production for bovine and ovine animals and cornflakes making huge contribution to meat and milk production due to its high digestibility are produced as a result of TÜBİTAK and university cooperation. The plant is known as one of the fully automated plants having the largest production capacity in Turkey. Activities are carried out in the plant with the mission of both increasing economic value of by-products that are produced after sugar production in the plant and utilizing forage plants cultivated by farmers in beet’s alternation period such as barley, corn. It aims to produce highly qualified feeds for producers together with its expert staff following feed technology and developments in feeding animals closely. The plant which expands usage area of products suitable for regional production pattern such as corn and barley and increases demand, aims to diversify and increase producers' income by raising productivity in animal husbandry with this effect and increasing animal number in the region. The plant also supports increase in producers' income by regulating product prices in favor of the producer with high tonnage purchases that it makes during harvest season.

In Çumra Feed Plant which is one of Turkey’s most modern feed factories with the largest capacity, products under ‘Şeker Feed Brand’ reach producers through Beet Cultivators Cooperatives. Birinci Feed Brand also meets producers with the help of distinguished dealer organization. Both brands have wide product ranges in bovine, ovine, poultry and special feed groups in the form of pellet and granule.

Konya Şeker which is a producer company and bears its responsibility, continues to be with Çumra Feed Factory. It serves producers with Animal Nutrition Specialist, Zootechnician-Agricultural Engineer and Veterinarians in the field and in addition to this, trainings are provided for producers about animal care and feeding with one to one customer visits, Village Training Seminars at nights, Farm Days, Large Breeders’ Meetings.

Konya Şeker broke a new ground again and establised bee feed plant.
Bee feed is produced from sugar beet in Bee Feed Production Plant located in Çumra Sugar Integrated Plants. In Turkey which is in the second place in terms of colony presence in beekeeping and in the 4th place in terms of honey production, yield per bee hive is about 16 kilograms and it is low. The most important reason for this is the fact that 35 percent of honey produced by bee in summer is left as a feed to be consumed by bee in winter.

Bee Feed Production Plant was established in order to prevent this loss and increase productivity. It produces feed which is sensitive about bees' health by coloring it, use of the feed while bees produce honey is prevented. Also, our product doesn't allow forgery in honey production due to its feature to be used only for certain months.

In addition to contribution made to development of country’s beekeeping, it also contributes to increase in agricultural production volume by enlarging beet sugar market like every new product produced from beet sugar.
