Powerplants

ENERGY SECTOR
ABH Energy Group’s 1526,66 MW total installed power constitutes approximately 1,94 percent of Turkey’s installed power by the end of 2016. In return for this power, it meets 2,7 percent of Turkey’s production by the end of 2016 with approximately 7,5 billion kWh electricity production in a year.

KANGAL THERMAL POWER PLANT EÜAŞ/SİVAS-KANGAL THERMAL POWER PLANT
Sivas Kangal Thermal Power Plant was taken over from Privatization Administration against tender price at the amount of 985 million dollars. Installed capacity of Konya Şeker in electricity production has reached 536,66 MW. Average annual gross production of the plant in the last year before joining Konya Şeker was 2,43 TWh. Konya Şeker which started rehabilitation investments after taking over the plant, took the road by increasing its annual production by one fourth. Approximately in 2,5 years of period between August 2013 and December 2015 when plant was taken over, electricity production increase of more than 50 percent of 5-year period average before plant was taken over, was enabled. Now, the plant is operated with a production performance as good as plant design. Kangal Thermal Power Plant was purchased together with a total 91 million 717 thousand 598 tons of coal reserves in total 8 thousand 45 hectares of area which can be used with a single license. However, as a result of new drilling and surveying works performed in licensed area after taken over, approximately 50 million tons of additional reserve was found and business project is prepared again in consideration with new reserve. Mean calorie of coal is 1100 kCal/kg. Daily coal need of the plant is about 21 thousand tons. When it is considered that approximately 7 million tons of lignite is used annually in Kangal Thermal Power Plant, Konya Şeker produces approximately 8-10% of lignite production of Turkey.

SOMA THERMAL POWER PLANT EÜAŞ\MANİSA-SOMA THERMAL POWER PLANT

Total extent became 1526,66 MW with Soma Thermal Power Plant having 990 MW and consisting of 6 units after Kangal Thermal Power Plant and its market share in electricity reached 2,7 percent. Since the plant is very old and the environment and rehabilitation investment must be made  according to tender specifications, Konya Şeker plans to invest 288 million dollars in the plant within 3 years. When compared to EÜAŞ, production of the plant was increased by 50 percent with minor revisions made right after Kangal Thermal Power Plant was taken over and a great business success was gained. Also, plant's operating efficiency was increased from 31 percent to 34 percent. It is planned to continue same success with Soma Power Plant B after rehabilitations.

ÇOBANYILDIZI EÜAŞ/ Çoban Yıldızı Çumra Thermal Power Plant

Çoban Yıldızı Elektirik Üretim A.Ş. (Çoban Yıldızı Electricity Production Inc.) came into service in 2013.  Konya Şeker which has been also operating a thermal power plant to meet its own needs since the establishment of Konya Sugar Factory which is its first factory, obtained electricity production license in order to commercialize the experience gained in electricity generation with autoproducer license within Konya Centrum and Çumra Sugar Factories and in order to contribute to energy supply of the country. Konya Şeker which had 42,66 MW production capacity in two power plants with autoproducer license, increased its electricity production capacity to 79,66 MW with power plant established in Çumra Campus after obtaining producer’s license.

TRIGEN PLANT

Konya Şeker established trigen plant in order to utilize methane gas released by Waste Water Treatment Plant. As plant can produce electricity by using gas from Waste Water Treatment Plant, it can also contributes to the heating and cooling systems needed in Çumra Sugar Integrated Plants at the same time.
